Tokyo Disney Halloween Costume Rules 2026: Dates & Restrictions

Tokyo Disney Halloween 2026
Check the Date Before Wearing a Costume

Tokyo Disney Halloween runs through October 31, 2026, but full character costumes are not permitted throughout the entire event. The most important distinction is between October 1–15 and October 16–31.

October 1–15, 2026 No full character costumes Tokyo Disney Resort asks guests to refrain from visiting the parks in full costumes during this period.
October 16–31, 2026 Full costumes permitted Guests may enter Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea in eligible character costumes, subject to the official rules.
Quick answer If your park date is between October 1 and 15, do not arrive in a full character costume. Full costumes return from October 16 through 31, but restrictions still apply to characters, clothing, props, makeup and changing.

The Tokyo Disney Halloween costume rules for 2026 apply to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Wearing an outfit inspired by a character is not automatically the same as wearing a permitted full costume, so check both your visit date and the details of your outfit before traveling to the resort.

Tokyo Disney Halloween Costume Dates for 2026

Date Full costume status Planning advice
September 15–30, 2026 Permitted under the official costume rules Check the eligible-character, clothing, makeup and prop restrictions.
October 1–15, 2026 Not a full-costume period Use ordinary clothing or a subtle character-inspired outfit instead of a full character costume.
October 16–31, 2026 Permitted under the official costume rules Allow extra time for entry and prepare your costume before arriving at the park.

Disney Halloween is presented at both parks from September 16 through October 31, 2026. However, the event dates and full-costume dates are not identical.

The Halloween event still operates from October 1 to 15. The costume restriction does not mean that Disney Halloween has stopped. Seasonal entertainment, menus and merchandise may still be available, but guests are asked not to visit in full character costumes during these dates.
Read the current official Tokyo Disney Halloween costume guidelines before finalizing an outfit. Cast members make the final decision when they see the costume at the resort.

Which Characters Can You Dress As?

During the designated full-costume dates, the official guidelines generally allow costumes based on eligible Disney characters appearing in relevant Disney works, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, Disney hotels and qualifying entertainment programs.

Guests should not assume that any costume associated with popular entertainment is acceptable. A character from an unrelated franchise is not permitted merely because the outfit looks family-friendly.

Generally eligible

  • Eligible Disney characters
  • Characters appearing in park attractions
  • Eligible parade or show performers
  • Original variations that still respect the character

Not appropriate

  • Characters outside the eligible Disney works
  • Costumes that do not respect the character image
  • Tokyo Disney Resort cast-member costumes for guests over age 11
  • Outfits based only on merchandise, food, buildings or decorations rather than characters

Because the eligibility list and interpretation can be detailed, use the official page rather than relying on an old social-media post or a costume worn in a different Disney resort.

Costumes, Makeup and Props That May Be Refused

Even during the approved costume period, an eligible character does not make every version of the costume acceptable. The park may refuse clothing, makeup or items that affect safety, visibility, operations or other guests.

Overly revealing or impractical clothing

  • Swimwear or clearly visible underwear
  • Full-body tights
  • Costumes that may frighten, harm or seriously inconvenience other guests
  • Long trains or decorative parts that drag on the ground
  • Costumes too wide to pass through entrance gates safely

Face-obscuring makeup and masks

  • Full-face masks or rubber masks
  • Makeup that makes facial features difficult to recognize
  • Dark or full-face paint in a colour substantially different from the guest’s skin tone
  • Graphic horror makeup, blood effects or severe wound effects
  • Large fake noses, beards or items that obscure the face

Dangerous or disruptive props

  • Replica firearms, knives or blade-like weapons
  • Large poles, canes or wands exceeding the permitted size
  • Sports equipment and musical instruments
  • Items that could strike, trip or obstruct another guest
  • Illuminated accessories that disturb other guests or interfere with attractions
Attraction rules still apply. You may be asked to remove accessories or props before riding. A costume accepted at the park entrance is not a guarantee that every part of it can be used on every attraction.

Where Can You Change Into a Costume?

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea do not provide changing rooms inside the parks. Guests should not change clothes or apply extensive makeup in park restrooms, public restrooms, accessible restrooms or storage-locker areas.

For the October 16–31 full-costume period, Tokyo Disney Resort lists a paid, reservation-required changing facility at the Garden Site on the first floor of Ikspiari’s Cinema Area.

The simplest option is usually to prepare at your hotel and travel in a way that does not inconvenience other passengers. Large props, long costume pieces and crowded commuter trains can be a difficult combination.

How to Prepare for Tokyo Disney Halloween

  • Check your exact date. October 1–15 and October 16–31 follow different costume rules.
  • Read the complete official guidelines. Do not rely only on photographs from a previous year.
  • Keep your face recognizable. Avoid masks and makeup that conceal your identity.
  • Choose manageable clothing. Consider entrance gates, restaurant seating, queues and attractions.
  • Do not bring replica weapons. Toy-like appearance does not automatically make an item acceptable.
  • Allow additional entry time. Costume checks can take longer than ordinary admission.
  • Prepare a backup. Carry an ordinary layer or an easy way to simplify the outfit if a cast member asks.
  • Check the park schedule. Entertainment can change because of weather or operational conditions.
